Tuesday, 8-June-2010 - Boekel - When I got up this morning, I wasn't sure if the weather would be good for skating later in the evening--rain was forecasted, but I made enough sandwiches to eat on the way home from work just in case. Took some pics of flowers in the front yard. During the day, it stayed dry and was pretty nice. Looked at the radar forecast around 1600, and saw that oncoming rain was going to skirt around Boekel. It was getting pretty ominus in Tilburg when I headed for home around 1700, but the sun came out as I was heading for Boekel--I was running late so I drove myself. On the way there, I saw houses decorated in orange, Holland's national color (House of Orange)--people all over the country are getting fired up for the World Cup in South Africa which starts on Friday . There were 23 skaters this evening. We split up in two groups. I went with Gerard. He was sure it would stay dry for us--he was right. Two skaters fell shortly after the start--Willy and Jos sported bloody knees, but that didn't spoil the fun. We got back at 2030. It was a great skate--24 km. It started to rain just before I got back to Veghel--great timing!
